Excursion description

This is a trip that covers an amazing part of the Atacama coast, towards the North of Bahía Inglesa, beginning the itinerary by visiting the “Orbicular Granite” Nature Sanctuary which protects a 375 m2 field of an extraordinary geological manifestation that gives life to a spectacular exhibition of intrusive plutonic igneous rocks that cut an enormous mass of granitic rock formed in Jurassic times, an intrusion that during its formation process some crystals encapsulated others (pyroxene and plagioclase) or in simpler terms , magmas that, slowly cooled, crystallized one within the other, giving rise to an extremely extraordinary geological phenomenon to be observed on the surface of the Earth's crust.

Immediately afterwards we will visit the Stone Zoo Natural Site or Wind Museum, which is one of the largest taffoni fields in the world, where wind erosion has given extraordinary animal shapes to granite rocks exposed for millions of years.

Later we will continue to Las Lizas Petroglyphs and its ancient granite carvings of millions of years where the fishermen of yesteryear recorded a variety of marine beings, including large tunas and whales, a true open museum, and then finish tasting the local coastal cuisine of the fishermen of the Pan de Azúcar National Park, famous for its overwhelming beauty and endemic flora, such as the Copiapoa cinerea, unique in the world.
